When one of the world's biggest football clubs reimagines its stadium experience, retail plays a
central role. Real Madrid CF's flagship Megastore at the Santiago Bernabéu needed a retail
technology upgrade to match its iconic status and meet the demands of modern fans-particularly
during intense matchday footfall.

The Challenge

On matchdays, tens of thousands of fans pass through the Bernabéu Megastore, creating short but
critical sales windows. Real Madrid needed a system that could process transactions at speed,
integrate with its loyalty programme, offer tax-free shopping for international customers, and deliver
a seamless payment experience for all.

The stakes were high: every minute of downtime meant lost revenue and disrupted fan experience.

BC4 Sport deployed a Unified Commerce solution tailored to Real Madrid's needs. The installation
included 30 modern POS terminals across a multi-level retail space, integrated with:

  • Real Madrid's loyalty programme, allowing personalised fan engagement
  • Tax-free shopping support for international visitors
  • Global payment capabilities via Adyen and additional processors
  • Real-time transaction monitoring and remote uptime support
The system was optimised to handle high transaction volumes with offline resilience and
performance tuning to ensure smooth operation even during the busiest moments.

Where We Are Now

The transformation delivered a step-change in operational efficiency. Fans now experience shorter
queues, quicker checkouts, and personalised loyalty rewards at the point of sale. Staff benefit from
a simplified user interface, reducing training time and enabling better service on the ground.

Real-time dashboards provide retail managers with instant oversight of sales, helping them make
